We built ClerkSmart because we were tired of being scared.

As medical students, there's this anxiety that sits in your chest every time you walk up to a patient on the ward. You know you need to clerk, examine, come up with a diagnosis, and then present to the consultant. The whole process can be terrifying.

But here's the thing: the only way out is through. You get better by doing it over and over. So we asked ourselves:

That's why we built ClerkSmart. We needed a safe space to practice clinical reasoning outside the hospital. Somewhere we could make mistakes without the fear of looking incompetent. A place where we could clerk case after case and get constant, detailed feedback on our approach, so it becomes easier to walk up to a patient on the ward, and learn better during rounds.

The Problem

Clinical reasoning is the superpower of every great doctor. Yet, in our training, learning it is left to chance, dependent on which hospital you're placed in, which school you attend, which patients you see, and which seniors take the time to teach you.
